Buying this AC has been a bad experience all around. I purchased this a month before the hot season begins to make sure I could get it installed and ready for use in time and here I am a month later the weather is hot and no working AC. It arrived in a undamaged package and I let it sit upright for 24 hours so that the coolant would drain from the compressor. Once unpacked and checked out I noticed that it would not go into cooling mode. I pressed the mode button until is completely cycled through its full list and the cooling mode or dehumidifying mode never showed on the display and the ac would not cool. Also 2 of the modes it did have kicked in the exhaust fan so I let those modes operate with the temperature set for 61 degrees when it was 80 degrees in the room and after 45 minutes there was no difference in the temperature between the fan output and the exhaust output (A working AC should start expelling hot air out the back). I even verified that my electrical socket was providing proper voltage and it was an 30 amp circuit with nothing else attached. I contacted Whynter and provided a very detailed description of what it was doing (Whynter also only deals with customer service by email). After going back and forth with Whynter for almost a week they finally decided to issue a call tag to return the unit. They told me it would take 3-5 days to evaluate and would get back to me. I contacted Whynter after they had the unit for 4 days and asked if they had a status update and was told that a replacement unit would be shipped out Friday 5/24. Since I am only one shipping day away I expected the ac to arrive Tuesday 5/29 (Mon was a holiday) but when Wednesday rolled around and there was still no update status from UPS I sent an email to Whynter about the status and was now told that the unit was now working perfectly, I thoroughly tested this unit and tried everything they suggested and it was non-functional. I tested every mode this AC had and none of them displayed the proper display indicating cooling mode and none of the modes cause a temperature differential from the front output to the back exhaust. They finally shipped a replacement unit and it arrived but unfortunately instead of correcting the problem it only got worse. The replacement was a used item that was cracked up the side with a broken base and leaking oil. It wouldn't even stand straight. The replacement was missing some of the packing inserts that the new unit had which probably allowed it to move around in the box not to mention I purchased a new unit not a used one and this unit looked beat up. At this point I am trying to just get my money back because I want nothing more to do with Whynter and I suggest you do not purchase this product. Save yourself a headache.
